Sassafras Leaf

Sassafras is a sturdy tree found in the bayous of Louisiana. The early Cajuns learned to use "file" from the Choctaw Indians. Sassafras leaf is used to thicken and flavour gumbo as well as other Cajun sauces and soups. The leaves have an aromatic & lightly spicy flavour. Gently simmer, never boil. Organic sassafras.
